Sustainability

We make less. On purpose.

The most sustainable garment is the one that's actually worn, for years, and was only made because someone wanted it. Everything Neelo does follows from that.

Made to order, not to stock. Overproduction is fashion's quietest scandal — a significant share of the clothing produced each year is never sold at full price, and much is destroyed. We produce nothing until you order it. Zero deadstock, zero unworn pieces in landfill.

Natural fibre, chosen to last. Pure silk: renewable, biodegradable, extraordinarily durable when cared for. Organic cotton mélange and pure Italian spun Merino wool. Zero trace of polyester, no blends that can't be recycled, no fabrics designed to pill by next season. In fact, we use buttons carved from seashells instead of zippers so that the entire garment melts into the earth at its end of life.

Made in Portugal. Short supply chains, EU environmental and labour standards, and makers we know by name. Read more on Made in Portugal.

Designed against trend cycles. Capsules, not seasons. Pieces cut to be worn for a decade, in colours that don't expire in spring.

Honest about the rest. We are a small brand, not a perfect one. Silk has an environmental footprint; shipping does too. We'd rather tell you plainly what we do and don't yet do than print a leaf on a label. If you have questions about how anything is made, ask us — [email] — and you'll get a straight answer.

Buy rarely. Choose well. Travel light.
